India COVID Cases: Why Chhattisgarh is the best performing Poor State
India COVID Cases: Chhattisgarh is the bet performing Poor State (10 million plus – 2011 Census). If we take the 7 States with below 1 lakh per capita.
India COVID Cases: Cases and tests per million by 7 Poor States
- Assam- 737 Cases per million (20268 tests per million)
- Bihar – 240 (3537)
- Chhattisgarh – 206 (9368)
- Jharkhand – 163 (6433)
- Madhya Pradesh – 300 (8039)
- Odisha – 398 (8998)
- Uttar Pradesh – 235 (7139)
Reasons why Chhattisgarh is the best?
Chhattisgarh vs Bihar – Chhattisgarh is better, fewer cases, more testing
Chhattisgarh vs MP – Chhattisgarh is better, fewer cases, more testing
Chhattisgarh vs Odisha – Chhattisgarh is better, fewer cases, more testing
Chhattisgarh vs UP – Chhattisgarh is better, fewer cases, more testing
Chhattisgarh vs Jharkhand – Chhattisgarh is better. They are testing more inspite of fewer cases and smaller population. In fact, in the last one week, Jharkhand carried out just 4% tests more and found 22% more cases
Chhattisgarh vs Assam – Chhattisgarh is better. No doubt Assam has been testing really well. In the last one week, Assam carried out 94541 tests vs Chattisgarh at 33958 tests, But here is the catch, Assam produced a positivity rate of 7.3% versus Chhattisgarh at 4%. So, what this data suggests is that Assam should test even more and is likely to find even more cases.
If one were to look only at the last one week period, UP is the only state better than Chhattisgarh having tested more and marginally lower positivity rate. UP of course has started doing well only recently as opposed to Chhattisgarh which has been doing well from the outset.
Hence, Chhattisgarh is the best performing Poor State
