Liverpool vs Everton Prediction and Odds: Preview
Everton are on a six match winless run which has pulled them down to 14th place just six points adrift of the relegation zone.
Rafa Benitez would be visiting his old hunting ground and his current side is not in a position to challenge his old team as things stand.
Liverpool have been in ruthless form thrashing both Manchester United and Arsenal by a margin of five and four goals respectively.
An Ivan Toney goal did the trick for Brentford in the last match as the Toffees got submerged to the deep. They haven’t shown any urgency in their last couple of matches and the results are pretty evident.
Things are slipping out of hands and they must muster more points as they surely don’t want to get involved in the relegation battle.
Liverpool have set the pace for the season with some eye catching football as Mohamed Salah has again become the lynchpin of Liverpool attack.
The Egyptian international has already bagged 11 goals and 7 assist in 13 matches and will target the Everton match to further extend his goal scoring record.
Liverpool’s other attackers are also contributing to the cause and this could be the season for them to launch a scathing attack on their opponent teams.
Naby Keita is dealing with a hamstring issue and Joe Gomez is also unavailable for this match with a calf problem. Roberto Firmino is not fully fit and should make it to the bench.
Benitez made a good start at Everton as the Toffees were fifth at one point after four wins in the first seven games. The game against Brentford was the perfect opportunity to stamp authority against a team who were also had been on a winless run.
But Everton hardly had any moment to cheer for and Benitez has a tough task to cut out. They dominated possession but the Bees sat deep to deny them any chances in the attacking third.
They seemed disjointed and disoriented and only spread passes without having any aim on the pitch. Despite keeping the ball possession to themselves the Toffees failed to direct them to a more positive approach as except a Salomon Rondon shot they didn’t have much more to talk about.
Brentford match could have set the tone for the remainder of the season as they do have very tough fixtures piling up ahead. Among the next seven games, they have to entertain Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea.
Abdoulaye Doucoure made some darting runs and fed some balls to the forwards. The midfielder looked solid in the middle of the pitch and only return to the pitch having broken his foot earlier.
Demarai Gray also made a quick cameo and was very bright with his appearance. But Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Yerry Mina remain on the sidelines and their absence has already been felt.
Diogo Jota and Thiago have impacted this Liverpool side which has been on a brilliant run. Jota has been a credible goal threat in the attacking third as he has netted seven times in 12 games so far.
The 24 year old can play across the front three and can be a valuable asset as the Reds are set to lose a number of players for the scheduled African Cup of Nations.
Thiago’s ability to resist opponents press has allowed the fullbacks to be more mobile as they bomb forward to combine with the wingers.
With Jordan Henderson anchoring the midfield most of the time Thiago has unlocked the opposition blocks with his partner in crime Fabinho in the midfield.
Virgil van Dijk has been monstrous in the heart of the Liverpool backline and both Ibrahima Konate and Joel Matip have given him the required assurance.

I was behind Rafa until he only made 1 sub and refused to bring on Simms&Dobbin for Iwobi&Rondon. There is no excuse for that when we were desperate for a goal. I would rather Everton sack him before the derby, as it will be the most humiliating experience when they demolish us.
Not a Gambler but @LFC vs @Everton this week – it’s pretty nailed on @VirgilvDijk is Gna absolutely bruise Richarlison. Bookings nailed on for VVD, Trent and Richarlison – if he plays. Possible red card or two. And 5-0 to the Reds. #YNWA
