Man City vs West Ham Prediction and Odds: Preview
City are touted to be one of the title challengers this season as they are involved in a three-pronged title challenge which also involves Chelsea and Liverpool.
City have looked dominant in most of the games and they have won four of their last five outings. Their only two defeats came against the two London teams Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace.
They are only three points behind Chelsea and with the Blues facing Manchester United on Sunday city would be hoping for a favourable result both for themselves and their title rivals.
West Ham have been excellent both domestically and in Europe. They have cemented their place in the 4th place and need to start winning games on a consistent basis if they really want to mount a serious title challenge this time.
They defeated Liverpool a few weeks ago and could take inspiration to hunt another big team in the Premier League. They lost to Wolves which ended their four match unbeaten run and will be aiming to stretch another good run of games to challenge the top three teams.
They have been scoring with good returns and could pose a serious threat to City’s title ambitions. They have shown their European credentials as they are yet to lose a match in the Europa League group stage and need to replicate that form in the Premier League too.
Their away record is pretty good as they have managed six wins out of their last nine games in the top flight. However, they have leaked goals as they have recorded just two clean sheets in the last 13 matches away from home.
City also have a decent record against the Hammers as they haven’t lost in the last 11 meetings with the Londoners. From 2016 to 200 they have scored a whopping 30 goals and conceded only three which speaks volumes about their intentions.
But Hammers are no more the same side as David Moyes has reshaped the side since their arrival. They have become a more attacking side and on their day they could wreak havoc in the opposition ranks.
Their Europa League adventure too has instilled beliefs in them and they are in the mood to fancy their chances against all the biggies.
City’s midfield has been sublime as the likes of Rodri and Bernardo Silva have provided the stealth to add more firepower upfront.
Guardiola always takes one game at a time and he might have some special plans in store for the Hammers who have been flying in the top flight. They have occupied the final Champions League spot as of now and if they grind out a positive result they could reduce the gap with the top four.
They are not to be taken lightly as they do have the resource to inflict serious damage on the Cityzens. The likes of Pablo Fornals, Jarrod Bowen, Said Benrahma and Michail Antonio hold some serious talent and the City defence need to thwart any kind of danger that comes towards them.
Manchester City will have the luxury of having two days of rest which might provide them with an added advantage coming into this game. Goals will be there as both the teams have a knack of scoring goals free-flowingly and a clean sheet for each keeper would be brilliant.
Raheem Sterling has thrived in recent weeks and he could torment the Hammers defence with his pace. Hammers will be tired having played the Europa League on Thursday in Austria.
Sterling could be unleashed against the fatigued Hammers defence.
Angelo Ogbonna recently underwent surgery and he is expected to be on the sidelines for a long period. Craig Dawson is likely to partner Kurt Zouma in the heart of the Hammers backline in his absence.
They last against City back in 2015 when Slaven Bilic was in charge. The result was 2-1. The Hammers ousted City from the Carabao Cup as the cup holders were eliminated in the penalty shootout.
City have been ruthless defensively as barring the Crystal Palace match they haven’t conceded a goal in their last six matches in the top flight.
