Man United vs Aston Villa Prediction and Betting Odds: Preview

United finished 12 points behind champions Manchester City and made some valuable additions to the squad in a bid to fill the gap. The arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane, and Jadon Sancho can push them all the way to the top but it’s too early to predict anything.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer fell short last time and his tactical inferiority could be a problem for the Red Devils this season. But he will have a chance to prove his doubters wrong and the game against Villa could be the perfect opportunity for him to implement his vision perfectly.

Villa must have taken note of how Southampton, Young Boys and West Ham United made the Red Devils toil hard and one can expect the Villa manager to plan accordingly.

Life hasn’t been smooth without Jack Grealish but the arrival of Danny Ings and Emiliano Buendia has seemingly been transforming the club in an even manner.

Villa’s ambitious approach could cause serious problems for United as we have already seen this season.

But the likes of Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, Sancho, and Mason Greenwood can demolish the Villa backline if they are provided with enough rooms to penetrate.

United has a pretty ensemble attacking unit and the likes of Edinson Cavani and Marcus Rashford are yet to gain full fitness this season.

United’s match was supposed to be held at 3 pm but the match has now been rescheduled to 12.30 pm as there will be a Courteeners concert at the Old Trafford cricket ground.

A club statement read:

“Our home match against Aston Villa on 25 September has been brought forward to a 12.30 BST kick-off, following a request from Trafford Council Safety Advisory Group to move the game due to the Courteeners concert at Lancashire Cricket Club, Emirates Old Trafford, on the same day.

“This request was supported by Greater Manchester Police and TfGM to avoid significant crowd, traffic, and operational issues locally.

“We regret any disruption that this may cause around our supporters’ plans for the day.”

Man United vs Aston Villa Prediction and Betting Odds: Predicted Lineup

Manchester United

Keeping in mind the midweek game Solskjaer could ring in a number of changes to the lineup.

The backline is expected to remain the same. Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka will marshal the two fullback positions. Harry Maguire will partner with Raphael Varane in the heart of the United defence.

Paul Pogba will be stationed in the middle of the pitch alongside Nemanja Matic who will have the license to fly in with tackles whenever needed.

Bruno Fernandes will take the number 10 position and will have the responsibility to feed in balls.

Sancho and Greenwood will take the two flanks and Cristiano Ronaldo will lead the line against Villa.

Aston Villa

Axel Tuanzebe won’t be able to play against his parent club so Kortney Hause should get the nod in this game. He will be in the charge of the Villa defence alongside Tyron Mings and Ezri Konsa.

Jacob Ramsey, Douglas Luiz and John McGinn should fill the three midfield positions. Matt Target and Matty Cash will try to attack the United backline with their marauding run through the flanks.

Danny Ings and Ollie Watkins will spearhead the Villa attack.

Man United vs Aston Villa Prediction: Recent Form

Manchester United shouldn’t have a problem dealing with the challenge of Villa. United lost to Villa in 2009. Since then it has been a one-sided affair as the Red Devils have proved to be the better side. The Red Devils started their Champions League campaign on the wrong foot and would be determined to prove their credentials in the Premier League this campaign. They are tipped to be one of the contenders of the League this time but they are yet to utilize their potential.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was furious with his midfielders after the match and hinted that they should have done better at the time of the goal.

“I think we played well. We still have to defend better. We have to make it harder to break us down.

“Their goal, the structure was wrong for whatever reason and we’ll have to work on it. Scott, Fred, and Nemanja are natural team players that will do anything for the team and plug holes wherever there is one.”

Dean Smith has done wonders with this Villa team as he doesn’t seem to have a lot of options at his disposal. But he still has managed to keep the club up and running in the Premier League and will give his opponents a run for their money. The departure of Jack Grealish hit them hard but they have coped up well in the absence of their former star attacker.

Villa will be coming to the game with a lots of positives following their resounding win over Everton. Matty Cash’s opened the scoring with a thunderous effort. Lucas Digne’s own goal and Leon Bailey added a third as the Midland giants registered an important three points.

Mike Dean has been given the charge to officiate in this match.

Villa would need some miraculous efforts to leave Old Trafford something and Dean Smith will leave no stones unturned to stop the United wagon wheel. The Red Devils are yet to taste a defeat in the league this season but have shown their vulnerabilities.
