After CM Kejriwal, Now Delhi’s Health Minister Undergoes Coronavirus Test

Delhi’s Health Minister Satyendar Jain was admitted to the Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty Hospital last night, as he was suffering from fever and his oxygen level dropped. He was tested for coronavirus this morning, and results are awaited.

Satyendar Jain tweeted about his hospital admission by saying, “Due to high grade fever and a sudden drop of my oxygen levels last night I have been admitted to RGSSH. Will keep everyone updated (sic).”.

A day prior to this admission in the hospital, he attended a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minster Manish Sisodia and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. The meeting was held to discuss the situation of coronavirus in Delhi.

Arvind Kejriwal too had been tested for coronavirus last week. His test results came back negative. He wished Satyendar Jain good health and applauded his efforts and dedication towards the public in such crisis. Jain’s selflessness and contribution were also appreciated by CM Arvind Kejriwal.

Delhi has around 42,829 cases, third highest in the country, and has been reporting more than 1.5k cases every day. The spike in cases in the national capital is a matter of concern. Arvind Kejriwal’s Government has been condemned by many as their efforts to contain the spread of the virus remined futile.

Amit Shah and Lt Governor of Delhi Anil Baijal took matters to their own hands and declared that there will be test for all in Delhi.

The Supreme Court referred to the condition in Delhi as “horrific, horrendous and pathetic.”. The Court also called out the Delhi Government for not taking care of COVID-19 patients properly and disposing their bodies without informing the patient’s families.

The high cost of hospital admission and treatment also is a grave matter of concern. Delhi Health Minister asked all private hospitals to send their fee structure to the Government.

The condition of Delhi is grim and abject. Unavailability of beds and sky-high treatment costs are leading to more and more deaths as many cannot afford to get treated or tested. This is also leading to more infections in the state.  Improving the situation in Delhi is challenge and Home Minister Amit Shah has also gotten involved, one hopes that the situation improves soon.
