Coronavirus India Update : Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, with an average weekly growth rate of 10.64%, and 6.11% respectively, have crossed the one-lakh Coronavirus case mark each. Both the southern Indian states have been witnessing a major surge in the number of coronavirus cases lately. Till date Andhra Pradesh has 1,02,349 registered coronavirus cases, and Karnataka has 1,01,465 registered positive cases.

In Andhra Pradesh, as many as 1090 people have died due to the virus, and In Karnataka the death toll is 1,953, much higher than that of Andhra Pradesh. Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka have made their way to the top, and are fourth and fifth worst hit states due to the coronavirus.

Coronavirus India Update : Andhra Pradesh

There are 51,701 active cases in the state, most of which are from East Godavari, Kurnool, Visakhapatnam, and West Godavari. On Monday, 6050 cases were reported in Andhra Pradesh.

Till June 23, Andhra Pradesh had a little over 9.8K cases and in just a month the case load stands over one lakh. This high growth trend is extremely alarming.

The state has more active cases than recovered cases. The number of recovered cases stands at 49,558. The recovery rate in the state is 48.42%. The fatality ratio in the state however isn’t high, i.e, 1.06%. Yesterday, 49 people died of the virus in the state.

The state has a higher infections per million number than the country’s average. In Andhra Pradesh, for every million people as many as 1959.92 people are infected. The country’s average case per million stands at 1112.24.

Till date 16,86,446 tests have been conducted in the state. For every million population, 32294 people have been tested.

Coronavirus India Update : Karnataka

Another southern Indian state to have crossed the one lakh mark after Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, is Karnataka. With the weekly growth rate being 6.11%, the state reported 5324 positive cases yesterday. Karnataka has 101465 registered coronavirus cases till date. As many as 1953 people have died due to the virus in the state.

Karnataka had around 18k cases till July 3rd and in just a couple of weeks the total case load exceeds one lakh. The state’s condition is spiraling and this excessive growth in the number of cases is extremely worrisome.

There are 61818 active cases in the state. Most of them are from Bengaluru Urban, Ballari, Dakshina Kannada, and Kalaburagi.

The recovery ratio of Karnataka is much lower than of other states. With a recovery rate of just 37.14%, as many as 37685 people have recovered from the virus as of now.

The case fatality ratio of the state is 1.92%. On Monday, 74 people died of the virus in the state.

The state has tested more than 12,05,051 people for the virus. For every million people living in Karnataka, 18,314 people have been tested for the virus. Karnataka’s cases per million tally remains to be a tad bit higher than India as a whole. Karnataka has reported around 1542 cases per million till date.

Southern Indian states have as of late not been performing well and a huge spike is being observed. Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka all have a very high average daily and weekly growth rate. With the current growth trend it won’t be long before Telangana also crosses the one-lakh coronavirus case mark.

The unlocking of the country has put the people at a much greater risk, due to the increased movement and interaction. States of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka were the states where maximum people returned to work since Unlocking phase started on June 1st. It is of great importance that we all follow the government issued guidelines on precautions and other safety measures to protect ourselves and others from the virus.
