Coronavirus Update India : India is relentlessly working towards the goal of getting rid of coronavirus from its root. However, there is no relaxation in the number of cases being reported everyday. The total count has crossed the 25 lakh mark. It is only a matter of a week that it will touch 3 million.
India added more than 63 thousand cases in the last 24 hours. This count is exponentially increasing with each passing day. Many states have breached the one lakh mark this week. West Bengal and Bihar became the seventh and eighth state to cross the one-lakh case count this week.
At present there are 25,94,112 cases in India. The number of active cases stands at 6,80,571. The recovery rate in the country is also very high, at 18,62,937.
Around 50,112 people have died of the virus in the country. In the last 24 hours, as many as 996 people have died of the virus in India.
Maharashtra has retained its position at top with the greatest number of cases. The state has over 5.8 lakh cases in the state, and 19k people have died of the virus in Maharashtra.
Second to it is Tamil Nadu. The state has conducted the maximum number of tests. More than 36 lakh samples have been tested. There are around 3.32 lakh confirmed cases in the state, and 5.6k people have died of the virus there.
The third worst affected state due to the pandemic is Andhra Pradesh, with over 2.81 lakh cases. More than 2.5k people have died due to the virus in the state.
The country has been reporting a major surge in the number of coronavirus cases lately. But a major reason for it could also be due to the increased testing rate. More than 8.6 lakh tests were conducted in the country yesterday.
In Prime Minister’s speech on Independence Day, he asserted majorly on the country being self-reliant and self-efficient.
The journey towards setting us free from the virus relies on the development of a vaccine. It also relies on population of the country following all government issued guidelines for protection against the virus.
India is mid-way in trials for three vaccine candidates. Until then, it is imperative for all to ensure social distancing and wearing a mask in public.

Maharashtra :
Maharashtra has reported 5,84,754 cases until now and the cases are just accelerating. Maharashtra’s case per million count is also drastically greater than India’s, which is 1476.3. Maharashtra has 4,787.1 cases per million population.
The cases in the state this week grew by 2.3%. Maharashtra reported more than 10,000 cases in the past 24 hours, and more than 300 deaths, highest so far.
