Coronavirus Vaccine Tracker India : The hunt for Coronavirus Vaccine is expected to end soon. With Russia registering its first vaccine there is a hope that sooner the life will return to normality however, there is also a fear that a rush in vaccine development may complicate the situation. But at this point of time when life has been in standstill for almost more than half a year, world seems to take risk to free itself from the clutches of Coronavirus.

Coronavirus Vaccine Tracker India : Covishield to be Commercialized in 73 Days

India stands to play a very crucial role in world in terms of both vaccine development and manufacture. Business Today on Sunday, 23rd October, claimed that as per top official from SERUM Institute, the Oxford University and Astra-Zeneca’s vaccine candidate “Covishield” is set to be commercialized in next 73 days. SERUM Institute is handling the production as well as conducting the Phase III trails of COVISHIELD in India. The report claimed that the final phase trail of Covishield in India starts from today and is expected to complete in next 58 days. The vaccine is set to be commercialised in next 73 days starting today as per the report in Business Today.

However, Serum Institute says claims surrounding COVISHIELD’s availability in 73 days are false. From its twitter handle SERUM institute clarified, “We would like to clarify that the current media claim on COVISHIELD’s availability in 73 days is misleading. Phase-3 trials are still underway. We will officially confirm it’s availability.”

Coronavirus Vaccine Tracker India : India to have a dedicated portal for Vaccine Tracker

With multiple vaccine being developed in India and around the world, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) is working towards creating a dedicated portal where the vaccines being developed with their current stage of progress will be listed. As per ANI report, the portal is expected to be live in August’s week of 23rd. Initially the portal is will provide the information about vaccines being developed in India but gradually the information about vaccine candidates from around the world will be listed.

In India two homegrown vaccine candidates, Covaxin and ZyCOV-D have almost finished the phase II clinical trials. Covaxin is being developed by Hyderabad based Bharat Biotech and ZyCOV-D is being developed by Zydus Cadila. The other vaccine, Covishield which is developed by Oxford University and Astra-Zeneca and produced by SERUM Institute India is under final phase of trail now.

As of 21st August, in world more than 135 vaccine candidates are under preclinical phase. 21 vaccine candidates are in Phase I of safety and dosage testing. 13 vaccine candidates are being expanded for safety trials. 8 vaccine candidates are in final phase of testing while 2 vaccines have already been approved. The first vaccine to be approved was for limited use by the Chinese military. Chinese company CanSino Biologics developed a vaccine in partnership with the Institute of Biology, China. The second vaccine is the Russian Sputnik V developed by  Gamaleya Research Institute. The vaccine was registered on 11th August and now it has been put in for mass production.

Till date from around the world 23,397,619 cases have been reported with 808,942 already succumbing to the virus. On a bright side 15,918,353 have already recovered from the virus infection.

India just reported over 3 million cases yesterday. Till date 30,49,855 cases have been reported from India. Over 2 million have already recovered. With 22,81,982 recoveries, India has around 75% recovery rate. However, 56,857 have already lost their lives due to virus.
