Coronavirus Vaccine Update: The wait for Coronavirus vaccine is getting longer day by day. The virus has already infected 14,674,183 people around the world and more than 6 lakh people have succumbed to virus. In India the virus has claimed over 25,000 lives and more than 11 lakhs people have been infected. Therefore, the only solution to end this pandemic is vaccine.
India is the biggest manufacturer of vaccines in the world. At present seven Indian firms have been given approval by WHO for vaccine candidate. Many of these vaccines are in pre-clinical phase while some are in human trial phase.

Biological E: The Hyderabad based Biological E ltd is the latest firm which has entered in the development of Coronavirus vaccine. The Biological E vaccine in currently in pre-clinical phase of vaccine testing.
Panacea Biotec: Panacea Biotec has partnered with US based company Refana to develop Coronavirus vaccine. Panacea Biotec and Refana will work on a whole inactivated virus-based vaccine against Covid-19. Panacea Biotec will carry out product development and commercial manufacturing, while together they will work for clinical development and regulatory submissions globally.
Mynvax: Mynvax is a Bengaluru based medical pharma company. It has tied up with Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru to develop Coronavirus vaccine in India. The vaccine is one the Coronavirus vaccine candidate which is undergoing pre-clinical trials.
Indian Immunologicals Limited: Indian Immunologicals Limited in collaboration with Griffith University, Australia is working towards developing Coronavirus vaccine. Indian Immunologicals Limited is a subsidiary of National Dairy Development Board. The vaccine is undergoing pre-clinical trials at present
Coronavirus Vaccine Update : Vaccines in Phase I/II of Human Trials
Zydus Cadila : Gujarat based pharma giant Zydus Cadila has already started human trials of its vaccine ZyCoV-D. The company aims to complete human trials within 7 months. Earlier this month, Zydus had received approval from the national drug regulator to initiate human trials for its COVID-19 vaccine contender.
Bharat Biotech: The Hyderabad based Bharat Biotech’s COVAXIN is one of the most talked vaccine at present. The vaccine entered the Phase 1 of the human trial last week. COVAXIN is being developed by Bharat Biotech International Limited (BBIL), in collaboration with ICMR and NIV, Pune. Recently first few candidates were given first dose of vaccine in Haryana and the vaccine showed positive result. 11 hospitals all around India has been selected for the human trials of COVAXIN.
Coronavirus Vaccine Update : Vaccine in Last Phase or Phase III of Trial
AstraZenaca and Serum Institute of India: Serum Institute of India has joined British-Swedish drug maker AstraZenaca to manufacture and supply the vaccine being developed by University of Oxford. The vaccine has entered the Phase III of human trials. The company aims to complete the vaccine trial by August and the company aims to introduce the vaccine to the world by September this year.
Worldwide Coronavirus has created a havoc. India is the 3rd most affected country due to coronavirus. Even after more than 60 days of lockdown the spread of virus is yet to be brought under control. After the easing of lockdown, the states that were able to control the spread of virus initially are too suffering now. In such scenario vaccine can be only solution. Not just Indian firms, but firms around world are working day and night to make sure the vaccine for COVID-19 is developed at the earliest. With every passing day situation is simply getting worse.
