Gap between BJP and Congress is the lowest since Jan 2019, according to Google Trends
In the last 4 weeks, the gap between BJP and Congress has reduced to 28%. The previous time it was lower than this was the second week of January 2019. That was during the week EBC reservations were announced. There are multiple reasons for the reduction in gap
- Limited media coverage of politics owing to other distractions – COVID, Lockdown, Sushant death and so on
- Limited Political activity on account of lack of ground level campaigning
- BJP losing popularity on account of economic reasons or otherwise (Limited evidence so far)
Whatever the reason, it comes at particularly tough time for the Congress party.
