How Twitter Reacted to Expected Operation Lotus in Maharashtra

Since Day 1 of Uddhav Thackeray’s government, there has been uncertainty surrounding his government. Every second day a conspiracy theory has popped up claiming the fall of Maha Vikas Aghadi Government in Maharashtra.

Maharashtra has been worst hit by Coronavirus crisis, the state alone accounts to over 50000 positive cases. CM Uddhav has been accused of being incompetent in handling the crisis. On 25th of May, after Sharad Pawar met Maharashtra Governor, Bhagat Singh Koshiyar followed by the meeting of BJP senior leader Narayan Rane, there has been news of NCP-BJP coalition in Maharashtra. Twitter erupted soon after the images of leaders meeting the Governor on the same day went viral.

One Twitter celebrity targeted the BJP supporters for spreading false news about the fall of MVA Government in Maharashtra. She tweeted, “Andhe bhakts are giving out @PMOIndia , @HMOIndia n @Dev_Fadnavis ‘s plan of action on horse trading in Maharashtra So after karnataka, madhya pradesh now Maharashtra. What a shame.. @BJP4India Sour losers..get a life,Our @CMOMaharashtra ‘ s @ShivSena aint gonna leave @OfficeofUT”

Sena spokesperson Sanjay Raut through his twitter handle conveyed the message of meeting between Sharad Pawar and Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray. He said that the MVA government in Maharashtra is intact and BJP was spreading misinformation.

BJP supporters were quick to react and reminded Sanjay Raut about the same confidence that Kumaraswamy had in Karnataka. One twitter user by the handle name @ek_aalu_bonda shared an image of sequence of events where similar tweet from Kumaraswamy was shared.

In coming days, Maharashtra politics is sure going to be interesting. There has been growing demand of imposition  of President’s rule in State by the opposition, BJP. One thing to be noticed in Maharashta politics is that Congress leaders have started calling the current government to be Shiv Sena’s government and not theirs. On the other hand the Deputy CM of Maharashtra, Ajit Pawar has been completely inactive since Coronavirus hit the state. What will be the future of Maha Vikash Agadi Government it is for time to decide, however, at present the state is suffering due to Coronavirus and a strict action is to be taken quickly to control the pandemic else that state may lose 1000s of lives in coming days.
