India World No 3 : India now ranks at No. 3 among the world’s most affected country with Coronavirus. India on Sunday, 5th July, has surpassed Russia’s coronavirus count, as it crossed the 6.97 lakh mark. On Sunday, India reported around 24,850 new cases, and 425 deaths due to coronavirus. The country has been reporting over 20,000 cases for a couple of days now, and currently India has over 253287 active cases, and around 424433 people have been cured. The number of deaths stands at 19,693.

A day ago, India was behind Russia at the fourth place but now India has crossed Russia’s 6.8 lakh mark. India is only behind Brazil, which has reported over 15.78 lakh cases, and the US, which has the highest number of coronavirus cases after reporting more than 29 lakh infections.

Which States are Contributing most towards ” India World No 3 ” Tag?

In India, the frontrunners include Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Delhi. A few days ago, Tamil Nadu crossed the 1 lakh cases mark, just behind Maharashtra, where more than 2 lakh infections have been reported.  Maharashtra now has more than 206,619 cases, as 6,555 new cases were reported on Sunday, and 151 deaths. Delhi is also nearing the 1 lakh mark, as the total coronavirus count is now at 99,444.

As Mumbai is gradually bringing the virus under control, Thane and Pune have seen a huge surge in numbers. Thane reported over 1800 cases on Sunday, 5th July.

Maharashtra, CM Uddhav Thackeray is however, now considering reopening restaurants in the state. In his statement he said, “SoPs for reopening hotels and restaurants are being finalized. Once that is done, a decision on reopening hotels and restaurants will be taken soon.”. 

Tamil Nadu reported more than 4,000 cases yesterday. the total coronavirus count in the state is at 1.11 lakhs. 60 deaths were reported in the past 24 hours.

Delhi reported over 2,244 cases on Sunday, and 63 deaths in the last 24 hours. Rapid antigen testing for high risk patients in the capital has been made compulsory. A new temporary hospital has been created in Delhi, with over 1,000 beds, 250 ICU Beds for coronavirus patients. Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the temporary hospital, which is situated near the IGI Airport. It took 12 days for building this temporary hospital.

New States Contributing to India’s Total no Cases Heavily

Assam and Uttar Pradesh have crossed the 1k daily cases mark yesterday. Assam reported 1,202 cases on Sunday, and Uttar Pradesh too saw a big leap in the daily number of coronavirus cases, as the state reported over 1,155 cases on Sunday. Uttar Pradesh’s total case count stands at 28,061.

Karnataka- 1925 cases

Andhra Pradesh – 998 cases

Telangana -1590 Cases

West Bengal – 895 cases

Gujarat 725 cases

Rajasthan 632 cases

Kerala too reported its highest single day rise in cases on Sunday. The state Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran on Sunday issued a statement saying, “It’s like we are sitting on top of an active volcano which can burst anytime. Just because there has been no community spread till now doesn’t mean it will not occur.”. Over 225 cases were reported in Kerala on Sunday.

The Karnataka Government has announced a complete lockdown in the state till 2nd August. The state reported around 1.9k cases yesterday. Only essential services will be allowed to continue in the state. Assam too has announced a two week lockdown in Dima Hasao. The government had announced a complete lockdown in the Kamrup district earlier, Dima Hasao will be the second district to undergo a lockdown again.

Bengal too reported a hike in its number of coronavirus cases, as the state registered about 895 cases on Sunday. In July, the state reported around 3,567 cases.

India’s coronavirus vaccine Covaxin, developed by Bharat Biotech has entered the human trial stage.India accounts for over 60% of the vaccines made for UNICEF, and people are fairly hopeful regarding the effectiveness of COVAXIN, considering the spike of coronavirus cases in the country.

The ministry of Science and Technology said that this “marks the beginning of the end”.

11 vaccine candidates worldwide have entered the human trials age, out of the total 140 vaccine candidates.
