Mumbai Winning ? Dharavi Records No COVID19 related Deaths in Last 7 Days
Dharavi, Asia’s largest slum is leading the fight against Coronavirus in Mumbai. Dharavi was considered as a Coronavirus hotspot in Mumbai, however, in last 7 days there has been no COVID19 related deaths here. Not only this, Dharavi is able to flatten the Coronavirus curve in last few days.
Till date BMC along with some other agencies have tested around 5500 residents. Dharavi has a population around 3.5 lakhs. Of them total 1899 cases of Coronavirus positive have been found. However, till date over 939 of 1899 cases have recovered. There has been 71 deaths in Dharavi due of COVID19.
On June 4th Dharavi recorded 23 positive cases, on 5th it went down to 17 and 10 on 6th June. On June 7th cases increased but it was not a big jump. Only 13 positive cases were found. However, since 30th of May there has been no deaths registered from Dharavi due of Coronavirus. Dharavi is leading a way towards flattening of COVID19 curve.
Maximum numbers of cases have been registered from Matunga labour camp followed by Kumbharwada area. Till date a total of 8,500 people from Dharavi have been kept in government quarantine facilities at various places.
Maharashtra has been struggling to keep itself afloat in the battle against Coronavirus. The State alone has reported around 86000 cases which is higher than the number of cases reported by China. This news comes as a relief for state and may give a reason to cheer. The battle against the invisible enemy, Coronavirus is far from over. Dharavi’s fight gives hope that the virus can be defeated.
