PM Garib Kalyan Rojgar Yojana : A Master-stoke for Village Development?
PM Garib Kalyan Rojgar Yojana : Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced PM Garib Kalyan Rojgar Yojana today. The coronavirus crisis had crippled the economy and left many jobless. unemployment rates soared high in the country, as the economy faced a major set-back. The unlocking phase 1 which started earlier this month aimed at reeling back the lost businesses and building new job opportunities for people.
PM Narendra Modi hopes that this Abhiyan provides the much-needed relief to Migrant workers. The Campaign will develop twenty-five different works as job opportunities for the workers.
What is PM Garib Kalyan Rojgar Yojana ?
The PM Garib Kalyan Rojgar Yojana is for Sharmik workers who returned to their homes during the lockdown. The campaign will run for 125 days, as per the Government, with its main aim being to provide the migrant workers who lost their jobs due to the numerous crises going on in the country.
How will PM Garib Kalyan Rojgar Yojana Change Villages?
The Pradhan Manti Garib Kalyan Rojgar Yojana will help set up infrastructure in rural areas, which includes 116 districts. The budget for the setting up of the infrastructure is 50,000 crores. Twelve different ministries or departments—rural development, panchayati raj, transport, mines, drinking water, environment, railways, petroleum, new and renewable energy, border roads, telecom and agriculture—will participate in the programme.
The states of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jharkhand and Odisha comprise of the majority of the migrant worker population. 116 districts have been selected where 25,000 workers returned in each district. Government will pool 25 different projects to give jobs to migrant workers who have returned amid coronavirus crisis.
PM Narendra Modi expressed his gratitude to the workers for putting in hard work for the benefit of the country, he acknowledged it and applauded their efforts. The main focus will now be villages or the near areas where the workers live. This is a great opportunity for the workers, as they won’t have to migrate to big cities in order to find work. Second to that, it will also benefit the villages as major development work and new infrastructure will be put in place.

PM also urged the workers to follow the mandatory protocol and guidelines issued by the government in protecting the spread of the coronavirus. Wearing masks and maintaining social distancing needs to be ensured.
This is a great step towards a self-reliant India, as new industries will be set up in place near areas where local products are available. Our country is rich with resources and now industries will be set up near those places and work will be given to the migrant population. The local products of our country will be produced and manufactured. Villages and small towns will immensely benefit from this development.
This campaign also helps Indian farmers, as they can now sell their crops in any state and contact with traders outside their state.
This is a great initiative and as PM said earlier the coronavirus crisis is a great time to turn India a self-reliant country. This new campaign will help the development of villages and small towns. The migrant population too will now be able to get work near their homes and get new job opportunities. Now not only metropolitan cities will be the hub of industries, villages and small towns too will see major growth.
