The Tokyo Olympics began last week after a year’s delay due to the COVID pandemic. A total of 205 countries are taking part in the Tokyo Olympics which began on 23rd July and concludes on 8th August 2021.

This Summer Olympics is the fourth Olympic event to be held in Japan. The last Olympic event that was held in Japan was the Nagano 1998 Winter Olympics. This year the Olympics has added 33 new medal events. There will be a total of 339 events in 33 sports.

The 2016 Summer Olympics was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. More than 11,000 athletes from 207 nations took part in the 2016 Games, including first-time entrants Kosovo, South Sudan, and the Refugee Olympic Team.

A total of 306 events from 28 sports were included in the Rio Olympics. This was the first Olympics to be held in South America.
